Replace a File

This feature allows you to replace a single file within your OpenAsset system. This can be particularly useful when you touch up an image and want to replace the improved jpeg, png or gif file.

Important Note:

If you have added a Partial Filename to a file (an advanced option in the uploader), this additional element to your file name will be carried on to the file you replace it with.

Replace a File

This will take you through the steps required to change an image, video or pdf file. Start by navigating to the File Info page for the file you wish to replace. Once on this page click the 'Replace File' icon in the top menu bar.

Once you have selected the replacement file (.jpeg, .png or .gif formatted files display as thumbnails in the window, other file formats display a file icon in the same location), then click the 'Replace File' option at the bottom of the pop up window.

Important Note:

The replacement file has to be the same type/format as the file you are replacing.

Managing Who Can Replace Files

As with a vast array of OpenAsset features, controlling who has the ability to replace files is set on a group permission basis (by default the Admin group has this feature switched on). To make the feature available to a group you need to edit the group's permission settings, this can be done in the following way:

Navigate to the Groups main page by selecting Groups option under the Security section in the Manage drop down menu.

Then select the edit option next to the group you want to give permission to.

Once on the group's permissions page click the 'General Permissions' tab on the left hand-side of the page.

Scroll down the page to reach the Advanced permissions box. Within this section you will see the option to give this group the permission to replace files. Simply click the box to grant permissions.

Once you have finished scroll back up to the top of the page and click the save option in the top action ribbon.
